Why we believe in Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX®

Unfortunately, not all fabrics are manufactured equally. Companies that are committed to ensuring their products passes OEKO-TEX standards have their customer’s health at the top of their priority.

At Modesty Hut we believe it’s important and essential because our customers are hijabi sisters who wear their scarves so close to skin.

So, what is Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX? Why is it Important?

The STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® is a worldwide certification system for textile products at all manufacturing stages. Every part of the garment, including stitching, zips, buttons and coatings are being tested.

To obtain a OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certification, the textile needs to be free from more than 100 substances known to be harmful to human health (heavy metals, toxic dyes, and carcinogens).

Your skin is permeable, so if you’re wearing clothes that have been processed with harmful chemicals, those chemicals can be absorbed into your body. You should always wash new clothes before you wear them anyway, but the OEKO-TEX certification is your guarantee that your new clothes have been processed without harmful chemicals. OEKO-TEX textiles and fabrics are safe for human use.

Modesty Hut’s newest collection of hijabs The Providence carries the OEKO-TEX certification making your hijabs safe to wear. It’s an ideal choice for sisters with allergies, sensitive skin or for the health-conscious.
