We are THREE

We are THREE

It has been THREE years since I founded Modesty Hut, and I’m proud of what my small business has accomplished. I’d love to share what stands out for me the most:

Stepping outside of my comfort zone and growing.

Introverts’ struggles are real! Minding a market stall, interacting with other stall owners, providing customer service – all was a welcomed challenge as it helped me grow. I couldn’t believe that people were interested in my products and were coming to my stall, and that I was starting to enjoy the experience.

New friends.

I realised how much I loved interacting with sisters and anticipated my every next market with excitement. Through the markets, I have met many beautiful sisters in the community who became long-term friends.

I’ve built a showroom in my garage.

Just an ordinary car garage with cement floor and brick walls with no natural light was converted into a cozy, welcoming showroom. My happy place of hard work, dreams, and many late nights.

Journey of knowledge.

I didn’t want to run just another hijab store. I wanted to offer informed advice to my customers and ensure I have the best quality products. It took me six months to educate myself about textiles and manufacturing practices. It opened my eyes to the negative impacts of fast fashion and unfair trade on the environment and humanity, and I’ve made a decision to move away from both.

Launching The Providence collection.

Since discovering that most fabrics are processed using toxic chemicals that are harmful to humans and the planet, I wanted to offer eco-friendly hijabs. It took one whole year from the idea to getting The Providence collection in-store. The Providence shawls carry Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX®, ensuring they are free from toxic substances harmful to humans. They are also fair-trade.

Launching eco-friendly products for personal and home use.

The range includes body soap, shampoo and conditioner bars, and laundry/dish soap. All products are highly effective, free from harmful chemicals, and made by hand in Melbourne. All feedback received for these products is excellent with many repeat customers.

What’s in the works?

Currently, Modesty Hut works hard in developing a new certified organic product that will be available in a few months’ time inshaAllah. Watch this space!

I thank each and every one of you for supporting us every step of the way as it wouldn’t be possible without you. These have been challenging, exciting, eventful, and frightening three years when at times, I felt like I was ready to give up. However, with Allah’s SWT grace and mercy Modesty Hut strives and inshaAllah will continue to offer excellent quality eco-friendly hijabs, accessories, and natural products.  I hope you will continue this journey with us.
